oikos International September Newsletter

Welcome to the September edition of our newsletter!

This month we take a look at the successful oikos International events over summer like oikos In Residence and St. Gallen Unconference. We also plan for the semester ahead, welcoming new Working Groups members,not to forget that the applications for the positions of vice presidents is open, and will be voted upon in November, to get our new board joining by the end of the year. To top it off - we share with you some exciting upcoming events from the oikos community and our partners. An important date is coming up soon as we announce NexGenLead - the upcoming program organized in collaboration with Swissnex Brazil.

Get ready for NexGenLead

We are excited to announce NexGenLead - our biggest project for this semester! The three week program is the result of a successful collaboration between oikos International and Swissnex Brazil, with the support of Movetia, and is set to take off in November, aiming to lay the foundations for a worldwide virtual community of students and to start a dialogue on Leadership & Sustainability within it.

Transform your Education through NexGenLead - oikos CEE Meeting Workshop on Curriculum Change

An interactive workshop at the upcoming oikos CEE Meeting will give you a sneak peek into NexGenLead, but also provide the activities to help you develop your competencies, understand your needs and give you the first tools you need to transform your university and its curriculum. It is a part of the 'Change in the classroom' day at the CEE Meeting, so don't miss the opportunity to partake in other sessions at the event too!

oikos In Residence - Looking back at the success of the second edition

Dubbed as oikos In (Your) Residence, the second edition of the program put the students at the helm of the change towards a sustainable curriculum. The three week program helped pick up the momentum in transforming curriculum by providing a platform to analyse and brainstorm ideas and implement change. What's more, it proved that the physical absence is in no way an obstacle, with the new format even improving certain aspects of the discussion.

The Unconference No. 2: By oikos Aumni for the oikos Community

The annual oikos Alumni conference took place at the end of August in St Gallen, welcoming participants joining both in person and online. Twenty-six people from eleven countries gathered  once again in the Swiss city to make the Unconference a success, for the second year in a row. We learned, we laughed, we debated and together hosted various inspiring workshops over the course of the two days.

oikos International Board Elections coming up

As we near the second Legislative Assembly for this year, we prepare for the new oikos International Board elections. The new Vice Presidents who will be elected in November will take charge of one of the seven departments for the year ahead. The application for the VP positions is open to oikos Members and Alumni all over the world.

2020 PRME Innovation Challenge 

The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) will host the 2020 PRME Innovation Challenge Finale on 23 September, during the 75th Annual United Nations General Assembly week and United Nations Global Compact #UnitingBusiness LIVE, where students engage with companies to build sustainable business solutions.

Global University Climate Forum

The Global University Climate Forum brings student activists together to share ideas, learn, connect, and act on the global imperative of addressing climate change. Multidisciplinary teams of students at all levels and from all parts of the world are invited to submit their ideas for climate action projects by September 30th 2020.
