Welcome to the December edition of our newsletter!

In this final newsletter of the year you can get a glimpse into what 2020 was like at oikos International. We also share the results from the Legislative Meeting last month with the new Board and sum up impressions from NexGenLead. This month we feature some activities of oikos chapters from Graz, Hong Kong, Lisbon and Vienna along with opportunities in the oikos International Working Groups.

The latest oikos Alumni Portrait has taken a new format starting this month and we also announce the new cohort of the LEAP Advanced Program and oikos Academy in spring of next year. We also feature the SDG Accord Report for 2020, of which oikos is a signatory.

Finally we would like to thank all of our readers, members, alumni, partners and supporters for another exciting year behind us and wish you all the best in the year to come!

oikos year in review: 2020 at oikos International

As the year comes to an end, we take a look at what has happened in oikos over the last 12 months. Despite all the challenges we faced, 2020 was a fruitful year, with a number of oikos events organized throughout the year, the oikos Community has grown closer and stronger. It was also a significant year which saw oikos evermore present around the globe, representing student voices.

New oikos International Board for 2021 elected

We are delighted to present the new Board of oikos International for 2021. The seven vice-presidents were elected at the Legislative Meeting on November 29 by the oikos Community.

oikos Hong Kong and oikos Lisbon become full chapters

oikos Hong Kong and oikos Lisbon have been awarded a full chapter status within the oikos network at the Legislative Assembly on November 29. The two chapters have earned the trust of the oikos Community with the hard work they've done and the impact they've made on their local campuses and even beyond. In this article we take a look at their activities and development from their founding, through their accession all the way up to today.

Students’ role in making their university a pioneer in sustainability – Sustainability Days at the University of Graz

An inspiring story about the Sustainability Days at the University of Graz, how it evolved over the years and gained recognition at 2020 International Green Gown Awards. The project was initiated by oikos Graz and they are the ones sharing its story - from its humble beginnings to earlier this month, which marked the fifth edition of the Sustainability Days and take a look at what the future holds.

NexGenLead: A new approach to virtual events

NexGenLead was the biggest project of oikos International this year. With many months in preparation and a large team behind it, the project impacted hundreds of people across the globe. It also proved to be an important learning opportunity, with many takeaways and insights made over the course of its preparation to realization. This article puts the spotlight on the program itself, what we did right and what we'll take for the future events.

We are excited to share the latest oikos Alumni Portrait in an entirely new video format! It features Pauline Krüger, an alumna from oikos Hamburg, who talks us through the story from her oikos days and her professional career in sustainability which followed.

oikos Vienna at EAUC Virtual Global Climate Conference 2020

Liliia, a member of the oikos Vienna chapter represented the oikos Community at the EAUC Virtual Global Climate Conference in November this year as a panel discussion chair. She shares her experience and her testimonial from the event.

Info Call: oikos LEAP Advanced Program

The new cohort of oikos Leadership Program LEAP Advanced is starting in March of 2021. We will be organizing two info calls where you can get all the information you need about the program.

oikos Curriculum Academy 2021: Register now!

The third oikos Curriculum Academy is taking place from February 27 to March 1 2021. It will be organized by the oikos International Curriculum Change Team in collaboration with oikos St. Gallen and hosted both online and onsite in St. Gallen. You can register for the Academy now!

Join the oikos International Working Groups

Working Groups are an amazing opportunity for oikos chapter members and Alumni who wish to engage at an international level, learn, exchange, discuss and work together in a unique oikos atmosphere and help bring change towards a sustainable world of tomorrow.

SDG Accord report 2020

The SDG Accord report for 2020 is out! Endorsed by UN Environment, it paints a promising picture of the embedding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in universities and colleges across the world, despite the global pandemic.
